Airfield Junior: 360 Virtual Time Travel Tour is designed to ignite a passion, and foster an appreciation for the Victorian culture and built heritage of Airfield House in a new generation. Junior explorers are invited to step across the virtual threshold of Airfield House into the realm of Victorian Airfield. Self-navigating a Matterport 360 virtual tour, junior time traveller can indulged in some Victorian child’s play, rise to an Afternoon Tea baking challenge, or delve behind the scenes of the Overend family home to discover how Airfield’s iconic papier-mâché ceiling and hand-printed wallpaper were created. Accompanying videos and STEAM activity sheets will enable explorers to get creative, and try their hand at these traditional crafts, or experience craftsmanship of another kind with a virtual spin behind the wheel of Letitia Overends, 1927 Rolls Royce. Complete with tow hitch, the car was once a familiar sight transporting Airfield Jersey cows to the Royal Dublin Society, Spring Show! Having picked up some mechanical tips, time travellers can meet the ‘original’ Dromartin Jersey Herd and follow the story of milk and pasteurisation at Airfield from the first cow purchased by Lily Overend in 1894, right back to the 21st century and the present day.
