Designed by Stephenson Gibney & Associates and completed in 1974, the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine is situated at the south end of Kildare street behind the Shelbourne Hotel. Home to the head office of the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) since its opening it is comprised of 7 floors with a basement car park and has east, west and centre blocks. The building is owned by the Office of Public Works and while DAFM are anchors tenants the building also houses the National Emergency Co-ordination Centre (NECC), Department of Defence and a portion of the House of Oirechtas staff. Visitors will be shown through the ground floor reception and link corridor up to a hidden library on the first floor, and then up to the staff restaurant on the 7th floor with exceptional views over the city.
