A walking tour led by two local residents around the Fairbrother’s Fields Housing estate now popularly known as the Tenters.
The Fairbrother’s Fields Housing scheme was the first Tenant purchase housing scheme to be undertaken by the newly formed Irish Free State government.
It is an important and significant example of a change in the provision of social housing in Dublin City at that time.
A variety of housing and street layout styles which lends a unique feel to the area. We will explore these streets and how the surrounding area has almost changed beyond recognition while the Tenters itself has altered very little.
