The Death and Life of a Dublin Street
Saturday 13 October, 11.00am – 12.00pm
A Walking Tour of Cork Street to Dolphin’s Barn One of the city’s oldest radial routes, the more recent history of Cork Street and Dolphin’s Barn could be described as a textbook example of how ‘not’ to build a street. Among the more controversial road widening schemes of the late 20thC, today Cork Street is finally bouncing back with a series of new projects building on the redevelopment of the street 2000-2010. Heritage, urban regeneration, new amenities, new faces and the vexing challenge of balancing space between cars and people all get a look in with this walking tour.
First-come basis: Just turn up and look out for Open House Dublin volunteers. Please wear appropriate footwear and dress for the weather. Wheelchair accessible.
Location: Dean St (outside Centz), Dublin 8
