Key principles that informed the architecture and design of The Central Bank’s new head office at North Wall Quay included collaboration and sharing by staff, addressing environmental challenges, achieving very high energy and sustainability goals and reflecting the distinct and civic nature of the organisation. The heart of North Wall Quay is the atrium featuring collaboration spaces, tea stations, and its design allows and actually encourages easy access throughout the building and the floors. The building has more than 250 internal meeting rooms and collaboration spaces. Facilities for visitors include twenty-six meeting rooms, a Public Exhibition space and a Public Archive. There are three multi-purpose rooms each holding 100 people in ‘theatre’ style that can be combined into one 300 capacity room. North Wall Quay is the first office building in Ireland to achieve the Building Research Establishment's Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) ‘Outstanding’ rating at design stage and it also has an A2 Energy rating. It recently was awarded winner of the “Universal Design” category by The Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland at the 2017 Irish Architecture Awards.
