The Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA) has been housed at Ely Place since 1970. This project comprised of the renovation and re-organisation of the existing structure to provide clear routes and paths through the building while improving the quality of the gallery spaces. A simple material palette is continued through the building which serves as a backdrop for the constantly changing exhibits of Irish and International art. Glazed walls are used as buffers on the ground floor pulling the café and bookshop in from the street with the white stone volume of the galleries above. A separate studio based educational facility which includes a reference library as well as group and individual studio spaces is situated above the atrium volume and rear galleries. Large North-lights provide an abundance of daylight to these spaces. As part of Open House Dublin, artists in residence will open their doors from 11am - 1pm and artist Hazel Egan will be running Kids’ Art Cart from 1pm - 5pm. Tours of the RHA gallery will be at 11:30am & 12:30pm. Exhibitions in the galleries will be open from 11am - 5pm and include works by Vera Klute, Ronnie Hughes, Susan Connolly and Janet Mullarney ARHA.

First-come basis: Just turn up and look out for Open House Dublin volunteers. Tours of the RHA gallery will be at 11:30am & 12:30pm.
