This social housing scheme of nine own-door apartments and duplexes was carefully designed to fit into the tight triangular site of a former petrol station. Architectural lighting guides to a landscaped courtyard with timber seating positioned to catch the sun. All dwellings benefit from a superb feeling of space as a result of their 2.7 metres (minimum) high ceilings, dual or triple aspect, plus inverted layout of the duplexes. It was the first project in Ireland to be certified under the Irish Green Building Council’s exacting Home Performance Index (HPI) label used to highlight the quality and sustainability of homes.
