Dolphin House is a Dublin City Council housing estate constructed in the 1950's. It consists of 392 social housing and 44 senior citizen units. The project, currently on site is the first Phase of a multi-phase regeneration of the estate which entails the refurbishment of the existing apartment blocks in addition to new build units. In the first phase, three of the existing blocks are being refurbished to give 63 units while there are an additional 28 new build apartments and nine houses also provided giving 100 units in total. The refurbishment of the existing blocks includes the provision of new staircases and lifts, externally insulating the walls to improve the energy efficiency as well as enlarging the existing units by combining or re-configuring the existing apartments. Works are on site at the moment and the first Phase is due for completion in May 2018.
