The project comprises of the renovation and two-storey extension to the rear of a small 1930's semi-detached house which addresses a large wedge-shaped West facing rear garden. The new structure mediates between the existing structure and the garden by twisting to create diagonal views through the house from the existing front living space through the new hallway and through to the garden via a cantilevered window seat. The angled form of the new structure is wrapped in a black facade, blurring the edges of the addition while providing an external shell that contrasts with both the bright new interior and the new wild flower garden.
