Making Memory promotes enquiry into how objects, buildings and spaces have worked to create and maintain public and private modes of remembrance. Topics covered include the visual archiving of asylum experience in Ireland, commemorating the Famine, the dark heritage of the ‘Troubles’ and the materiality of monumental lettering. The conference is funded by the Irish Research Council and convened by Dr. Lisa Godson, National College of Art & Design.
