The regeneration of the Liberty House complex, between Foley Street and Sean McDermott Street, sought to rejuvenate and transform the neighbourhood. The project involved the demolition of 1 of the existing 1960s slab blocks, and its replacement with a mixed development, accommodating new and existing residents. The architects proposal contained a total of 56 units, with a mixture of duplexes and apartments. The scheme is a key element in the NEIC plan to provide a series of urban spaces linking Sean McDermott Street and Talbot Street, thereby contributing to an improved urban environment in the area. The project is a model of sustainability, using energy saving strategies such as passive solar gain, self-condensing boilers, solar water heating, heat recovery systems, highly insulated building fabric and waste recycling.
